A brief history of the Nevada County Horsemen!
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Posse served as the foundation for the Nevada County Horsemen. The Sheriff’s posse was comprised of about 30 men. This group was considered the elite horse organization of western Nevada County. In 1950, urged by their spouses, they started to include family members in their activities.
The Nevada County Horsemen regularly feature and host Gymkhanas and Horse Shows, as well as other horse activities. Besides the activities, NCHI seeks to promote horsemanship throughout the community and to provide a friendly and wholesome social environment for young and old alike. You’re always welcome to stop in at one of the monthly meetings or events and say “Howdy”! 😊
